Houston's Fiesta expanding into 3 more retail center locations.

Houston-based Fiesta Mart LLC scooped up three more locations in the Houston area, the latest in a string of announcements this year.Details about the acquisitions were not disclosed, but all three locations were former grocery stores.

 

 

 

 

The locations are:

  • 2877 S. Richey in southeast Houston, which once housed a Bravo Ranch

  • 5101 Avenue H #55 in Rosenberg, west of Sugar Land

  • 11035 East Freeway, just east of the intersection of Interstate 10, the 610 Loop and Highway 90

Those stores will hold their grand reopenings in the coming months, according to Fiesta’s Dec. 6 press release.

"Fiesta is continually looking for opportunities to serve new areas," Fiesta CEO Michael Byars said in the release. "We believe that these new acquisitions are a fantastic fit for the Fiesta brand, and we look forward to unveiling the new Fiesta experience in these stores in early 2017."

Also on Dec. 6, Fiesta announced the grand reopening dates for three other stores. A Houston store — at 12355 Main St. — and a Balch Springs store will reopen on Dec. 7, while a store in Waxahachie will reopen on Dec. 14. Balch Springs and Waxahachie are in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and both stores were former Minyard locations.

Earlier this year, Fiesta bought nine Minyard Food Stores and two Sun Fresh Markets, expanding its North Texas presence by nearly 50 percent. The deal, which was announced in July, boosted Fiesta Mart to 70 locations across Texas.

Following the acquisition, Fiesta began remodeling stores, beginning with its 800 S. Wayside Drive location in Houston.

Fiesta is focusing on catering to more diverse demographics companywide, the company previously said. Changes to the 44-year-old grocery chain include bilingual signage, smoothie bars, expanded international foods and expanded apparel sections.

"We've worked strategically to prepare these stores for this exciting time in Fiesta Mart's history, and we can't wait to provide a new, improved shopping experience within these stores,” Byars said in the Dec. 6 release.

Washington, D.C.-based international private equity investment firm Acon Investments LLC acquired Fiesta Mart in April 2015.
